Photoshop Tutorials [Scanlines]

This tutorial is on how to add scanlines to a project. It's a nice effect if you just need to add something to a boring peice.

First make a new project according to these settings.

Zoom in to about 1600%. Use the Rectangluar Marquee Tool located on the top left of the tools pallet. Select the lower (or upper) half of your project.

Then fill that selection with black, make sure your foreground color is set to black then go to Edit > Fill.. Now select the entire project, using the Rectangular Marquee Tool.

Go to Edit > Define Pattern and then name it something like scanlines, or whatever.

Now open up an image you want to put the scanlines onto. Then right click on the gradient icon located on the tool pallet, select Paint Bucket Tool

At the top you need to change Foreground to Pattern then select your pattern, the one you just made should be there.

Now go to you Layers Pallet and create a new layer above the one your adding the scanlines to. Set the opacitcy down to around 30, or whatever you desire, this will affect the strength of the scanlines.

Now you just fill the image with the Paint Bucket Tool.
